Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, the 17th Director of the National Institutes of Health, delivered the Keynote Speech early in the program of the 2025 NFCR Global Summit and Award Ceremonies for Cancer Research & Entrepreneurship, co-hosted by AIM-HI, on October 24 in Washington, DC.
C-SPAN was on-site at the National Press Club on Friday, October 24, 2025, to televise Dr. Bertagnolli’s speech.
When asked after the Morning Sessions, Dr. Bertagnolli stated her main takeaways from her keynote as:
If we are going to achieve precision medicine and precision in oncology, we can’t have disparities or leave anyone out of who we are including in the data that is used for creating artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Trust is everything; As we develop new applications with AI, we need to ensure that the people we serve are intricately involved and that they can very clearly see how those applications have been developed to benefit them as individuals.
